I just got a new book, Liberated Quiltmaking II by Gwen Marston…wow, I am excited. The first chapter is about “Liberated Log Cabins”. What a great chapter to read at this time. I still have two more blocks to go but this is what Gwen says:
“Think of each block as a single composition…the center doesn’t have to be square…strips can be close to the same width but don’t have to be…color arrangement doesn’t matter…” Liberated Quiltmaking II, p. 21.
I decided to take a picture of my blocks and see how I did based this her input. Here they are. I think they are definitely “liberated”.
Now, I have to ask your thoughts. Should I put a small sash of white between the blocks to show off each block OR should I just cut them square and sew them together to look more wonky?? Let me know what you think. Here are a few blocks with some white showing between them.

Diane , I really like the wonky blocks and think white smashing will make them POP more.
It should say “white sashing will make it smashing”…..
